This petition by users of the Waterplay Park located at Steel Park in Marrickville draws the attention of the Marrickville Council to our concerns for the sun safety of the children using the facility. We agree the facility is a fantastic addition to the leisure facilities in Marrickville, but it is a known fact that protecting a child from sunburn and long-term overexposure to the sun reduces their risk of developing skin cancer later in life.
We urgently request Marrickville Council provide sun cover over the Waterplay Park to ensure our children's exposure to the sun is kept to a minimum.
